LED dash lighting part 4

The experimentation is over, I have finally found an LED back lighting combination I like. Two additional changes had to made to make the lighting acceptable.

The first was to get more light on the tachometer. It was dimmer because it was missing a plastic refraction ring. I assume it came that way from the factory but maybe there is supposed to be a ring and mine is simply missing. As an alternative, I lined the interior of the whole gauge with a reflective film in the hope to get more light reflected on to the back of the dial.

The silver lining made a small difference, but it still did not produce the same output as the diffraction rings on the other gauges.

The final piece of the puzzle was to tint the diffraction ring of the speedometer to match the other gauges. I used water soluble ink of course so I can revert the change if needed. Again, I’m not sure if all Ferrari 308s have a clear ring or it is just mine but it does seem odd that all the other gauges have blue rings.

Coloring the ring blue did at least allow the color of the speedo to match the green-blue of the other gauges.
